The Met Gala 2018 | Erin

The Met Gala is quite possibly THE biggest night in Fashion. It's the perfect excuse for all the celebs to dress up in crazy outfits, following a theme and for everyone at home to become professional fashion critics (even when we are mostly all sat at home in a pair of joggers and t-shirt).

With the theme being 'Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, on the whole, they didn't disappoint. The men's attempt however wasn't as great. I did manage to pick out a good handful of looks that matched the occasion.

Versace and Dolce and Gabbana ran the whole event for me.With most of my favourite looks being some of their showstopping pieces.
The Men:
Cole wears Thom Browne
Nick wears Dolce and Gabbana

Cole and Nick both went for the black suit with the little details that fit with the theme. I loved these two looks because of how classic they look on each of the but also because of the fact that they weren't just straight up, plain black suits. Both outfits had something about them.
Darren wears Dolce and Gabbana
Chadwick wears Versace
Migos wear Versace

These three are looks! So in tune with the theme and just classic Met Gala outfits.I love how out there they are but also how well suited and designed each piece is to the body wearing it. Chadwick's outfit was definitely my favourite out of all the men, it fits with the theme so well. The gold detailing and gold shoes just complete the whole look.

Jared wears Gucci
Donald wears Gucci

My final two fave menswear looks of the night come from Donald Glover and Jared Leto, looking like the king that he is. Any man who can pull off a purple suit is in my good books and with Donald being one of the coolest men, he already looks amazing for me. The gold detailing on the back of his blazer brings total class to the theme. I loved that Jared and Lana del Rey were so coordinated on the carpet together. His whole outfit is just incredible.

My Top 10 Women's Picks:

With the women's looks, there were a lot that were stunning but ones that I just didn't think really went with the whole theme of the night. The other extreme was that they were so over the top it looked more like fancy dress. There was a lot of looks to choose from so I've narrowed it down to my personal top 10.
Rihanna wears custom Mason Margiela by John Galliano
Cardi wears Moschino

These two ladies never failed to impress, both wearing amazing pieces and working them so well. Both Rihanna and Cardi B went for the headpiece and the encrusted dresses with a combination of jewels and diamonds. They are absolute showstoppers but the dresses themselves are gorgeous. They may look over the top but for the Met's, the art of them is what counts and both dresses fit the criteria well.

Zendaya wears Versace
Lili wears H&M

Two very different looks but non the less, amazing. Zendaya's Joan of Arc outfit was just incredible. I loved it! She can usually pull of anything but I think this is her best to date. Lili also went for the silver, chrome looking dress and she looks sophisticated yet so powerful at the same time. Very different from Betty Cooper's style!

Emilia wears Dolce and Gabbana
Lily wears Givenchy

We know she's a queen anyways so its easy for Emilia Clarke to impress at events like these. Her and Lily are both wearing black, both using details to bring the outfits to life. Lily's is more simplistic compared to Emilia where she has gone for a small cross accessory and more extravagance in her headpiece. In Emilia's outfit, she has lots of gold embroidery and a gold crown like headband that just completes her look perfectly. Both look stunning.

Ariana wears Vera Wang
Shawn and Hailey wear Tommy Hilfiger

These two were very delicate looks I felt like which suited both Hailey and Ariana so well. Not only did Hailey have arguably the best date of the night but her dress was so pretty. Although she didn't have crosses all over or something to show the Catholic side like Ariana does on her dress, she definitely fit the heavenly side of the theme. I loved Ariana's dress because of how stunning it is from afar but when you look closely she has painting work all over the top layer.

Blake wears Versace
Kim wears Versace

The Met's are something that these two seem to get right every single year without fail. Kim looks incredible as always but in her gold, tight fitted number with the small cross detailing, I think her outfit was spot on. She looks amazing but at the same time her dress seems so simplistically designed. Blake was my number 1 favourite from this year's Met Gala and I just think she looks insane. Her dress makes her look like a real life princess, probably even queen but it suits her figure so well. The delicate headpiece she is wearing completes the look but I seriously can't get over how stunning she looks. I love everything about the Versace piece she is wearing and it concludes the event for me that both Kim and Blake are  wearing Versace which created the majority of my other favourite looks from the night.

Apologies if the formatting comes up odd when you view this, it finally looks right on mine but knowing my luck it'll mess up as soon as its published! Keep an eye out for Georgie's post next week and I'll see you again the week after. Thank you for reading!

Coachella Catalogue

Hi everyone!

Erin back with another post. This week considering Coachella's just been on, I've put together a mini catalogue of some of the looks from the week. Some of them are weird and/but wonderful and some I'll let you make your own minds up on!  So let's get into it.

I always think that Coachella is a very 'floaty' festival style wise. This is where all the loose blouses and dresses come out with the frills or the bell sleeves. With a festival like this, you're always spoilt for choice on what you can wear and so I love seeing the different outfit choices that people come up with.

Considering this isn't a massive event like the Oscar's where its pretty obvious thousands would be spent on outfits, you'd be surprised at how many Prada handbags were thrown in or boots costing thousands of dollars. Coachella is never done by halves even though the outfits are very much more relaxed and give you the 'chill' vibe.

I hope you liked this post and thank you for reading! A lot less of my rambling and more of your favourite celebs. Stay tuned for Georgie's post next week and make sure you leave a comment on your thoughts!

Style Evolution - Blake Lively | Erin

Hi Everyone!

I, like many of you reading this, absolutely love binge watching Gossip Girl and it never gets old no matter how many times you watch. This week, I’ve decided to write all about the queen that is Blake Lively’s style and how it has changed since way back in 2005.

2005:

2005 was the year that Blake first came into the spotlight and although most of you know her from Gossip Girl, she was the lead role in ‘The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants’. Pictured on the Teen Awards 2005 red carpet, Blake wears a cute and casual yellow dress. It looks like something you could wear to the beach but obviously she just pulls it off. The chunky bangle was in back then and let’s face it, who didn’t love wearing either a chunky or a silver jangly bangle? On her feet, she wears snakeskin peep toes which makes her outfit as a whole almost look like something created on the Sims but this is fashion from over a decade we’re talking about, so it was acceptable then.

2006:

In 2006, Blake went for a look that was quite stripped back in the way that it was just the dress, the heels were hidden by its length and she didn’t use any accessories. With a plunging neckline, she wore a floor length dress with a monochrome pattern to it. With this look, she again doesn’t particularly work what she’s wearing. The same sort of stance and even though the dress has pattern, still quite a plain look for her.

2007:

2007 marked the start of Gossip Girl and I think this is where she really started finding her style. With her outfit here, she wears much more of an exciting outfit in the way that she has different sleeves going on, a chunky belt round her waist to accentuate the dress there and allow for the sort of ruched area and then the alternating lengths on either leg. This is the first piece we see her wear that isn’t just straight up and down and has a bit more something about it.

2008:

2008 Blake Lively reminds me a lot of her character Serena Van Der Woodsen in Gossip Girl. She has the chunky belt, one shouldered dress paired with stilettos, quite short and a statement ring to pull it altogether that just screams Serena. She still looks so well put together but is just missing the glamour that she finds shortly after.

2009:

At the 2009 Emmy’s, Blake looked so elegant. She compliments her again plunging red dress with a pair of nude heels, more of a statement bangle and little earrings which bring just the right amount to the outfit as a whole. The dress works so well on her tall stature and the slit in the leg gives her that extra bit of elegance.

2010:

Blake brought the leg slits with her into 2010 but left the colour. Interestingly, she still wears chunky bangles to accessorize her outfit and what looks like a brooch under her neck. She also moves to wearing higher heels than before.

2011:

2011 meant colour where Blake wore an electric blue, figure hugging dress paired with the strange choice of plum coloured heels. Again, she’s wearing bangles to add a bit of bling to the outfit. Her style is still much different to what we see her wearing today.

2012:

I love this look on Blake. She looks so sophisticated in her red suit, paired with black heels and black earrings to match. It’s almost like we see the change in single Blake to, married and potentially starting a family Blake. She just looks amazing and so well put together.

2013:

In 2013, Blake looks stunning in a monochrome colour contrasting dress. Feather detailing is added but the whole shaping to it and the lack of straps make her look glamorous as well as so elegant.

2014:

This colour suits Blake so well as she wears a long, flowing dark red dress. Again, she looks so elegant and it compliments her height so well. With a bit of leg on show, the dress lays so well on her figure and the nude heel itself shows how much her fashion sense has changed over the years. Long gone are the days of snakeskin heels and yellow dresses!

2015:

2015 was the year when she gave birth to one of her children and it’s not often you pair glamour and children together. Blake however literally brings glam to any situation. Although this dress is quite dark, the pops of bright yellow are enough to show she doesn’t shy away from styles like this despite only having a baby months before. She still looks incredible.

2016:

This dress is absolutely stunning. It compliments her in every way! She looks amazing to start with but everything about the actual outfit works so well. The whole maturity of the dress and the way she’s bringing such style being a mother of two just shows that she has definitely grown with her style.

From last year up until today, Blake has come out with some amazing looks. She can pull off almost anything but I love the way she has gone from her bright colours, lots of statement bits of accessories - especially her love of chunky bangles. She has taken her style with her as she’s grown older but in a way that she hasn’t ruled out anything despite this. She’s become much more confident with what she wears and the way that she wears it and even the way that she’s photographed on the red carpet shows off this confidence.

I absolutely love Blake Lively and she’s one of those people that I love seeing what she comes out wearing in fashion weeks or on red carpet events. She can be daring with her style but she’s such a glamorous woman and she gets it right every time. She’s come a long way since 2005!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and would love to hear your thoughts. If you could leave a comment about your style icons or even just to let me know if you’ve enjoyed reading, that would be great!

Georgie will be back with another post next week as usual and I hope you’ve all had a great Easter.

Spring 2018 - What to Wear | Erin

Hi Everyone! It’s Erin back again with another post. This week I want to leave behind the cold, snowy weather (I can’t believe we’re still getting snow in the middle of March!). So as I write this on the official first day of Spring, there’s blue skies above, I thought what better way to welcome Spring than write a post about it. I’m going to help you put together some affordable Spring outfits, hopefully with a good selection for everyone.

I always feel like Spring is that awkward month between Summer and Winter where you get those cold, rainy days and you never know if to be wearing your jumpers or t-shirts. Even if it looks sunny outside, more often than not it’s still quite chilly and just not warm enough for one layer. This can give you some inspiration into the things you could be wearing this Spring.
Miss Selfridge - £5 from £18
ASOS - £18

If you know me, then you'll know that stripes are 100% my thing. They're the one thing in my wardrobe that are an essential in any season. I love the two tops above. Funnel necks and slightly cropped but with a pair of higher waist jeans. The long sleeves aren't too heavy and the necks aren't full on, chunky knit turtle necks like we'd wear in Winter. Below, a top similar in red but also a sweatshirt which I actually own. Its slightly cropped but its so comfy and just right for the awkward days that I was talking about earlier. Nothing too heavy but perfect for the colder air.

Miss Selfridge - £10
New Look - £8 from £15.99

Something I am loving wearing at the minute is tailored trousers and especially those that have a stripe or something going on down the leg. I have picked out a pair that I think are great for this weather and some that you can pair with a plain, lighter coloured long sleeved top. Alternatively, as we move into the nicer weather and everyone's fashion starts brightening, you could go for a pair of light denim mom jeans. These are so casual and can be put with almost anything on top so a great staple piece for the Spring.
Pull and Bear - £17.99
Zara - £25.99
H&M - £26.99 from £34.99

With jackets, I always have the memory of going to school in my Winter parkas and either being far too hot and having to carry it around with me all day or still needing to wear it towards the start of April. I still don't think that there's a perfect jacket that is made for Spring but I'd love to hear your thoughts on this! I think there's either 3 ways that you can go; the classic denim jacket which is casual and can go with pretty much anything, a longer wool blend coat which is neither too thick or heavy or a rain mac which is thin but will keep you dry in the showery days that we can expect.

New Look - £25.99
New Look - £24.99 £10 off Rain Macs

H&M - £35.99 from £79.99
For more of a formal look, again I think tailored trousers do the job well. Pairing a pair of pastel coloured trousers with a darker, off the shoulder top just works so well together. It looks so much more sophisticated but at the same time its not overly formal. This is a look that is so comfortable to wear and I love the trousers that I have picked out from MissGuided. Such a nice nude colour that anyone can pull off.

ASOS - £16
Missguided - £25

I hope that this has helped you feel more inspired with the outfits you will be putting together in the next few months! Looking through each of the websites for this clothing, there is some gorgeous stuff out at the minute both casual and more of a dressy vibe. Make sure you go and check them out and if you like any of the clothing I have included, I have linked them up to the photograph. Let me know your thoughts on this and what you love wearing this time of year. I would love to know what you're thinking!

Thank you so much for reading. Our social media links are along the side as always so be sure to follow us if you don't already. Georgie will be back next week with another post and I'll see you back here in two weeks!

Scrunchies, Leopard Print & Cosy Coats - What I'm Loving At The Moment | Erin

Autumn is just around the corner and I couldn't be any happier! The colder months are the best by far no matter how much I contradict ...
