SS18 TRENDS THAT I LOVE | GEORGIE

SS18 TRENDS THAT I LOVE!

Hi everyone,

It’s Georgie here back again with another blog post. Since the weather is starting to brighten up here in the UK (touch wood) I am feeling so ready for summer, so today I decided to write about spring/summer trends that I saw on the runway over fashion month that I am loving!

TROUSER SUITS

To start with what might be my favorite trend, ‘Trouser Suits’. I love the co-ordinated look myself so I will definitely be trying to incorporate this look into my wardrobe this season. One of my favorite bloggers pulls off this look perfectly so I have been looking at her blog and Instagram all the time for outfit inspo!

I think that a perfectly tailored suit is a must-have for a staple wardrobe that can be worn season after season. There are so many versions of this look that it is easy to find one that will fit your personal style. I think they look great with a plain white t-shirt and white trainers or platform boots.

YELLOW

I don’t usually wear color myself, especially not yellow, however, I have found myself loving the mustard yellow that is on trend at the moment. It is definitely a way to stay on trend in the upcoming season. It is the mustard shade of yellow in particular that I like as I feel that it is a bit softer and complimentary. I think it’s fair to say that this is a great way to cheer up your wardrobe this year.

1980S COMEBACK

I must say that I love that 80s fashion is making a comeback with the large shoulder pads, bright colors and high waisted jeans which you can read more about how to get this look in my last blog post on stranger things. I personally prefer the more relaxed 80s look or the blazer look but you will definitely be on trend if you’re wearing mom jeans and sporty socks or neon dresses with huge shoulder pads.

POWER SHORTS

I think power shorts are a great way to spice up the standard pair of shorts that we see every summer. I think it’s a great statement piece that is really flattering as they create an illusion of wider hips. One of my favorite pairs is definitely the Saint Laurent power shorts that are shown in the image below.

WET LOOK

I couldn’t cover the trends for this season without mentioning that the super shiny, wet-look will be the biggest texture this spring/summer as you would have noticed if you were up to date on the S/S18 runway shows. I think Balmain pulled off this look the best in my opinion with their jumpsuit with super Soho vibes. I love how ELLE described this trend; “It's a trend loaded with irony. In the process of elevating the synthetic stuff to luxury status, designers used it to dress down glamour and add an element of sport”.

PUNK/ REBEL TREND

I think that you can definitely see the political influences through this trend and this is no surprise with the chain of political events over the last year or two. I also love the musical influences on this trend and I feel that think also links to the 80s punk culture. Alexander McQueen is also an expert at this look so it’s no shock that McQueen is a leader of this trend.

To finish off this post, there is a couple of accessories trends that I am loving and can see myself wearing for sure!

STATEMENT LARGE EARRINGS/ MISMATCHED EARRINGS

WAIST BELTS

Spring 2018 - What to Wear | Erin

Hi Everyone! It’s Erin back again with another post. This week I want to leave behind the cold, snowy weather (I can’t believe we’re still getting snow in the middle of March!). So as I write this on the official first day of Spring, there’s blue skies above, I thought what better way to welcome Spring than write a post about it. I’m going to help you put together some affordable Spring outfits, hopefully with a good selection for everyone.

I always feel like Spring is that awkward month between Summer and Winter where you get those cold, rainy days and you never know if to be wearing your jumpers or t-shirts. Even if it looks sunny outside, more often than not it’s still quite chilly and just not warm enough for one layer. This can give you some inspiration into the things you could be wearing this Spring.
Miss Selfridge - £5 from £18
ASOS - £18

If you know me, then you'll know that stripes are 100% my thing. They're the one thing in my wardrobe that are an essential in any season. I love the two tops above. Funnel necks and slightly cropped but with a pair of higher waist jeans. The long sleeves aren't too heavy and the necks aren't full on, chunky knit turtle necks like we'd wear in Winter. Below, a top similar in red but also a sweatshirt which I actually own. Its slightly cropped but its so comfy and just right for the awkward days that I was talking about earlier. Nothing too heavy but perfect for the colder air.

Miss Selfridge - £10
New Look - £8 from £15.99

Something I am loving wearing at the minute is tailored trousers and especially those that have a stripe or something going on down the leg. I have picked out a pair that I think are great for this weather and some that you can pair with a plain, lighter coloured long sleeved top. Alternatively, as we move into the nicer weather and everyone's fashion starts brightening, you could go for a pair of light denim mom jeans. These are so casual and can be put with almost anything on top so a great staple piece for the Spring.
Pull and Bear - £17.99
Zara - £25.99
H&M - £26.99 from £34.99

With jackets, I always have the memory of going to school in my Winter parkas and either being far too hot and having to carry it around with me all day or still needing to wear it towards the start of April. I still don't think that there's a perfect jacket that is made for Spring but I'd love to hear your thoughts on this! I think there's either 3 ways that you can go; the classic denim jacket which is casual and can go with pretty much anything, a longer wool blend coat which is neither too thick or heavy or a rain mac which is thin but will keep you dry in the showery days that we can expect.

New Look - £25.99
New Look - £24.99 £10 off Rain Macs

H&M - £35.99 from £79.99
For more of a formal look, again I think tailored trousers do the job well. Pairing a pair of pastel coloured trousers with a darker, off the shoulder top just works so well together. It looks so much more sophisticated but at the same time its not overly formal. This is a look that is so comfortable to wear and I love the trousers that I have picked out from MissGuided. Such a nice nude colour that anyone can pull off.

ASOS - £16
Missguided - £25

I hope that this has helped you feel more inspired with the outfits you will be putting together in the next few months! Looking through each of the websites for this clothing, there is some gorgeous stuff out at the minute both casual and more of a dressy vibe. Make sure you go and check them out and if you like any of the clothing I have included, I have linked them up to the photograph. Let me know your thoughts on this and what you love wearing this time of year. I would love to know what you're thinking!

Thank you so much for reading. Our social media links are along the side as always so be sure to follow us if you don't already. Georgie will be back next week with another post and I'll see you back here in two weeks!

Stranger Things Get The Look | Georgie

Hi everyone! Welcome back to Until Wednesday. It's me Georgie writing again today on another get the look post.
Like most other people, I am obsessed with the Netflix original series Stranger Things. When watching the programme I fell in love with how the characters dressed and the 80s style which is really back on trend this season. Therefore, I wanted to create a post on how you can try and adopt the style yourself.

OUTFIT 1- ELEVEN

This look is iconic to Eleven's character so I had to include it in this get the look. I felt that the dress was harder to wear on a day-to-day basis and a bit kiddy, therefore, I found a dress that is much more wearable but still has a similar colour from ASOS. I also found a bomber jacket with a very similar colour and style in the men's section on ASOS, which is where I also found these super 80s striped sports socks. I then thought that the Chuck Taylor All Star vintage high-top trainers were perfect to give the worn out trainer look that Eleven has in this outfit.

PRODUCT LIST-

Tommy Jeans Justice Bomber Detachable Faux Fur Collar in Navy£150.00
Chuck Taylor All Star Vintage Camo £110.00
ASOS DESIGN Scuba Cocoon Sweat Dress With Rib Trim £28.00
ASOS 2 Pack Stripe Calf Length Sock £6.00

OUTFIT 2- NANCY

I love this jacket that Nancy wears in the show during the action scenes. Now that we are in the spring season it was pretty difficult to find something the same online however I did manage to find one pretty similar from Boohoo which is a slightly red but it definitely still pulls of the Nancy look!

PRODUCT:

Rosie Padded Borg Collar Slim Fit Denim Jacket- BOOHOO £35

OUTFIT 3- ELEVEN

I loved this t-shirt that she wore as I feel that it is super chilled out but still really 80s. Yellow is going to be huge this year, therefore, it is a great on-trend item to have. I didn't find the exact shirt, however, there are loads of oversized t-shirt from your favorite high-street stores that pull off this look perfectly. In particular, I loved this t-shirt from urban outfitters.

PRODUCT:
TOP URBAN OUTFITTERS Colorado Overdyed T-Shirt£26.00 now £21.00

OUTFIT 4- NANCY

Nancy is definitely my favorite character in terms of style with her preppy looks and I think this may be one of my favorites. I found it hard to find a skirt and jumper really similar to the one in this picture, however, I found two pieces that still pull off her preppy style.

PRODUCT LIST:

SUPERDRY SKIRT A-Line Denim Mini Skirt£44.99
RIBBED SWEATER MANGO £35.99

OUTFIT 5- STEVE

I love Steve's character and especially in Season 2 where we see a different side to his character. I managed to find a pair of trainers from Nike which definitely have the retro 80s vibes.

PRODUCT:

Nike Cortez ’72 trainers, £94.99 at office.co.uk

OUTFIT 6- MAX

Max is definitely one of my favorite characters in the show and I wish I was a cool as her when I was younger. I loved this outfit and managed to find some pieces pretty similar to what she is wearing in this picture.

PRODUCT LIST:

ADIDAS WOMEN ORIGINALSBB TRACK JACKET£62.95
Vans Women's Old Skool Trainer | Burgundy / White£56.99
BDG Bleached Puddle Jeans£55.00 - URBAN OUTFITTERS

OUTFIT 7- BARB

Finally, I felt that this was quite an iconic look for Barb, therefore, I felt that it would be a good choice to end on for this post. It was pretty hard to find a shirt similar to this however with all the plaid on trend at the moment it's easy to wear an inspired outfit. I found this one from Mango with the ruffles, plaid, and turtleneck just like Barb in the picture.

PRODUCT LIST:

ASOS Geeky Clear Lens Clear Frame Glasses£8.00
Plaid blouse, £29.99, Mango

Thank you so much for reading this post! I hope you've enjoyed seeing how you can achieve the 80s look from Stranger Things, I know I will definitely be trying to pull off this look this summer after watching the series.

Vanity Fair Oscar's After Party 2018 | Erin

The Oscar’s are one of the most glamorous nights in showbiz and I always absolutely love seeing what everyone comes out wearing. It’s always disappointing when you don’t get to see some of your favourite faces on the red carpet and so The Vanity Fair After Party is the perfect chance for us to see everyone who wasn’t invited to the Oscar’s, look amazing! I also love the quick outfit changes we see from those who have been at the main event. Two outfits in one night, you can’t complain. Here are some of the looks from Sunday night.

There were quite a few of the celebs that showed us black is definitely not boring. Sometimes I feel like there is a lot of pressure around not just going for black because it is just a colour that suits everyone and it’s a safe option if you’re not used to wearing brighter colours. Every single piece that was black and worn at the after party looked absolutely stunning. The shaping of the dresses on each person that wore it along with the little bits of detailing whether it be lace or little diamonds just brought them all together to create a gorgeous piece of clothing.

Kendall Jenner’s statement piece dress was just amazing. Normally, I wouldn’t like something with the overdramatic almost wing like sleeves but she pulled it off so well! When paired with the plunged neckline, it just made the dress work even better. Even though the skirt was short, being black and the way that the dress as a whole was shaped just brought that elegance to her whole outfit. Catt Sadler, Janet Mock and Kate Beckinsale all decided to go for the plunged neckline on a black dress as well proving that the two as a pairing did nothing but go great together.

Sofia Vergara and Emma Watson both added a bit of sparkle to the carpet as well as Emma’s tribute to the Time’s Up campaign. I absolutely loved Sofia’s cape overlay and the bardot style of her dress really accentuates her collarbone, bringing that most loved elegance to the red carpet.

A darker red didn’t go a miss as Emily Ratajkowski brought a sultry, sexy but also very tasteful style to the after party. Her dress was pretty much everything as she looked like a cross between the red lady and a princess all wrapped into one. The dress was fitted perfectly and was just velvety goodness. Jenna also went for red with a side split in her strapless dress with beautiful embellishments to compliment.

What I really liked about Miley’s dress is the silkiness of it and the way it just sat so right on her frame. It all just falls into place, even the gathering around her waist makes her look so pretty. Gal Gadot looks incredible in her plunging, spaghetti strap dress, again with a side split. The sequined effect brings the glitz as well as glamour and she has simply paired the dress with a red shoe to match.

Now these two ladies really know how to dress! All of the colour in their outfits is brave but they pull it off so well. Although I’m a complete sucker for sticking to darker colours or maybe going towards a pastel, I’ve never had the guts to wear anything brighter. Both outfits are totally amazing. Halle Berry who always looks great anyways has gone for the shorter, long sleeved dress which we didn’t actually see a lot of on the carpet. The dress is covered in a print and there’s even a cheeky slit on the thigh- no one would ever know that this woman is in her 50’s! Angela was actually criticised for her outfit being too bright but I just think she works it. The geometric pattern combined with the striking colours resulted in a fun outfit. It might not have had the same elegance as the rest of the outfits but I say if you can pull of a bright coloured suit as a woman, you can wear anything.

Toning it down in colour, Nina Dobrev and Margot Robbie both wore more muted coloured dresses. Nina is one of my top girl crushes and I’m still debating over whether I actually liked her dress or not. She looks amazing in pretty much everything she wears but there was just something about the whole waterfall effect and the almost sheer but not quite panel across her chest that didn’t work for me. Still love you Nina! Margot looked so pretty and elegant in her bodycon dress with the sheer overlay. The little diamonds encrusted into it just completed the whole look.

Hailee Steinfeld and Sarah Hyland went tulle crazy with both of their dresses using it in some way. Sarah went for the tight, figure hugging approach which looked great on her but I just wasn’t sure about the colour. It goes without saying the sparkly effect throughout the dress made it a lot more glitzy than some of the other pieces we saw. Hailee looked so cute in her tutu style dress but brought the glamour with the trail on it. The monochrome effect worked so well on her and she looked like such a showstopper!

My final two picks from the night were Zendaya and Serayah, two absolutely gorgeous girls. Zendaya so well suited her dress and everything about it just looked right on her. It just seems to have the simplistic effect with the little bit of something going on around the hem that makes it such a great piece. I love all the little sparkles and the neckline that compliments her so well. Serayah went for something a little different with an almost half and half outfit. When I first saw this, I actually thought she was wearing shorts. I love that she can work the best of everything in this outfit with the longer side on the left and short on right but the long sleeved as well as off the shoulder and the cropped effect with a bit of leg on show as well. Loved this outfit!

Let me know what you’re thoughts are! What do you think of the outfits from the Vanity Fair after party? Anything that you think was a bit too crazy? Leave some comments and let me know!
