The Beatles- Get the look from Pretty Green | Georgie

The Beatles style steal from Pretty Green

Hello everyone, welcome back to Until Wednesday. It’s Georgie here writing this weeks blog post and today I am writing a post that I am super excited to share with you. The Beatles are one of my two favorite bands of all time. I have grown up listening to The Beatles and have been studying them as part of one of my university projects.

The Beatles have created some of the most iconic looks in music history from their Teddy boy look in the late 50s, mods in the early 60s to their bright Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club outfits.

Today I want to share with you how you can get their style from Pretty Green. I am aware that Pretty Green is a menswear brand, however, I would personally wear their clothes as I love the style of clothing! So this post is for guys and girls.

If you didn’t know a lot of Pretty Green’s clothes are inspired by The Beatles because of Liam Gallagher’s love for the band who founded the company. So Pretty Green is a great place to look if you want to dress like The Beatles!

LENNON’S BAKER HAT
During the Beatles first tour in 1964, John Lennon wore a black fisherman's cap which quickly became popularly known as the ‘Lennon Hat.’ It is said that Lennon wore this hat as a way to become noticed by the press and to set him apart as the leader of the group.
I love this style as its something I would wear myself and it certainly made his outfit stand out to the other Beatles. This style has recently made a comeback, therefore, it is definitely something to add to your wardrobe.

Pretty Green has a very similar style as shown in the images below in a couple of colours.

GRANDAD COLLAR JACKET

One of the most iconic Beatles looks is the grandad collar jackets. Personally, when I see these jackets I instantly think of them. I love this look and I really want one of these jackets myself. I love how coordinated The Beatles were in the early days because it created an identity for them.

Pretty green have plenty of options for this style of jacket in an array of colors but I have selected a few of my favorites. This is a great way to create a tailored, smart look. I think this would look great with a smart pair of trousers or jeans and a turtleneck as this is how The Beatles styled this jacket themselves.

COLOURFUL JACKETS AND SHIRTS

The Beatles went through a psychedelic phase with their style from 1966-1967. During this period, The Beatles were heavily influenced by a 1966 trip to India, as well as by the experimentation with drugs at this time. Looking Eastward, and inward, provided the catalyst for a dramatic change in their approach to style. They wore a lot of colorful blouses and patterns suits.

I love this shirt as it reminds me of the shirt that Paul McCartney wears in the picture above which can be found at Pretty Green. They also have this striped tailored suit which I think resembles the style of George Harrison very well because in the late 60s George often wore patterned suits

BIKER JACKETS

In the very early days of The Beatles, before Ringo Starr actually joined the band and Pete Best was the drummer, they would often wear leather jackets, as shown in the pictures.

Pretty Green also have a couple of leather jackets which I thought were very Beatle-esque (if that’s a word haha). I think this is a great staple piece that is great to have in your wardrobe anyway.

TEDDY BOYS

Before the creation of The Beatles, when they were just teenagers, the ‘Teddy Boy’ look was very popular among working-class boys in Liverpool in the 50s. John Lennon and Ringo Starr especially had the Teddy Boy look at this time. I love this style!

I found two jackets from Pretty Green that I think would definitely pull off this look. To create the whole look, wear rolled up jeans(loose fitted) with black boots and a t-shirt or a thin knit with a shirt underneath.

POLO NECKS
In my study of The Beatles, I noticed that they always wore polo necks in the early days. They usually wore this underneath a tailored jacket or just on their own. I love the image of Paul McCartney on the left and how he has styled this look (not just because I have a tad crush on him from back in the day).

Pretty Green stocks this turtleneck jumper in three colors however I felt that this navy one was most appropriate for The Beatles style.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this post to learn a bit about The Beatles style and how you can mimic it yourself if it’s by wearing Pretty Green or using what you already have in your wardrobe.

Celebrity Looks I'm Loving - Winter Style | Erin

Hello to you all! Feels like it’s been so much longer than two weeks since I last posted! There’s been so many celebrity looks that I’ve been loving and so I wanted to write all about them and share them with you.

Trousers:

I love the trouser look at the moment. There’s so many different patterns, colours and shapes that it just makes them such an exciting piece in a wardrobe. Personally, I prefer the more tapered styles however, so many celebs can pull off both the flared trouser and the frilled style. Although I love the Yeezy neutral colours and the comfy/classy wear that is created with the range of pants, I much prefer the pops of colour or the patterns that the three looks that I picked all have going on. I love the contrast between pattern and plain or bright colour paired with a more classic black or white.

Faux Fur/Fluffy Jackets:

These have got to be the cosiest looking jackets of the season! I love that they’re more of the teddy material rather than fur and I have been dying to get my hands on one. Between the styles that I looked at, each are different colour tones and different lengths which shows how you can wear it in so many ways - another plus! With each one, they are all paired with different looks. Kim is casual but classy as she pairs her joggers with heels and the coat just pulls this all together. Rosie has worn it with as more of a chic look as a whole where Lauren is quite smart casual. Although it’s not as practical for the wet weather, I absolutely love this style and the look of the jacket.

Shorter Boots:

Throughout the season, knee length boots have been so popular - especially wearing them with an oversized jumper as the ‘forgot-the-pants-look’ as the media like to call it. This style is so easy to wear but I just much prefer the shorter boots. I love an ankle boot but calf boots have especially caught my eye. The chunkier, shorter and all around more stylish boot can be paired with a casual outfit as well as more glam (and you don’t have to have long legs to pull these off!).I feel like again, both Kendall and Selena have totally different outfits going on but are still able to pull of the style of boot with everything that they are wearing. Of course it has something to do with the fact that they could literally pull off a bin bag but looking at their outfits, the boot brings back that classic winter look.

Side Stripe:

The side stripe is so flattering, especially on a trouser. If you know me, you’ll know I’m absolutely obsessed with stripes and so with finding trousers with a stripe down the side, just amazing! I think it also works so well on a top and is the simple detail that is needed to bring a piece of clothing alive. It’s such a versatile style that can be turned glam with a pair of heels but can also be worn with a pair of trainers. Missguided have brought out a range with Umbro and they have incorporated their branding into the side stripe on their top which looks great. It’s just enough against the all black. It makes the clothing look more smart casual where Umbro its a sportswear brand and wouldn't normally be seen on anything of this style.

Jumper Dress:

Another cosy winter look - the best! Both of these looks are styled differently. I like that Blake has gone for more of a Punk like style of lace up boots where Hailey wears trainers. You can tell that the jumper dress is another piece that is so easy to pair up with whatever you’re feeling on the day. I prefer the boots paired with it as I like them more with Winter looks anyways but I think the overall outfit looks more put together and just generally goes better. I think a pair of high top converse would go really well with this particular style in terms of trainers but I’m a sucker for a pair of boots so I’m more biased towards them for this look.

Mens Contrasting Colour Jumpers:

Thought I’d throw in a little something from the menswear that I’ve been loving throughout winter and that’s colour contrasting sweaters/jumpers. I feel like looking at mens street style, you get a lot of the same. Plain jumpers or hoodies or the tight long sleeved tops that show off the muscles look. Seeing jumpers like these are something new and different and I like it! First of all the one that Proudlock is wearing looks amazingly cosy and you’ll have probably worked out by now that cosy in Winter for me is priority. But looking at Rafferty Law’s style of course he’s going to look good as he is a model, I just think the design looks so simplistic but so effective. Even though the colours are very toned down and almost dull, they just work so well together that it brings out such a sophisticated looking piece.

 Frill Sleeves, Neck and Hems:

I wouldn’t say I was one of the most girly girly there is out there and so frills for me are a no-no but this style of top is just so cute! Plain long sleeved tops are a staple piece to a Winter wardrobe and can be matched with literally anything. To give them a little something extra, there’s tiny wave like frills on the hems, sleeve holes and as Cami wears, on the neck. In 2017, flares made a comeback and with that came the massive bell sleeved tops and ruffle bits everywhere. To not look as extravagant with this style, I think they’re so easy to pull off and just aren’t as full on as some of the other pieces that are seen today. Sometimes a little less is more and like Selena wears, it’s an opportunity to add a little bit of colour detailing as well which makes it look even cuter!

You can probably tell that I much prefer Winter fashion over Summer and I think its just the perfect time to be wrapped up in massive jumpers but stay looking great whilst doing it. I would love to hear from you and your thoughts. Who is your celebrity style crush? What looks have you been loving throughout the Winter and is there anything that I’ve missed that has been your number one look of the season? Comment and let me know what you’re thinking! My Five Current Fashion Favourites | Georgie

MY FIVE CURRENT FASHION FAVES

Hey! Welcome back to our blog. It’s Georgie writing today following up from Erin’s post last week about her January favorites (which you should definitely check out if you haven’t already!). Today I am going to be discussing the five fashion faves that I have loved incorporating into my outfits with pics to show how I put the outfit together.

BAKER HAT

My first fashion favorite is my black baker hat. I bought this in mid-November last year from River Island and it has become one of my most beloved staple accessories ever since! It’s one of those things that completely transform an outfit and makes it look as though you have put much more effort into your outfit than you actually did. If I’m being honest, it’s also a great way of covering up a bad hair day! In Autumn last year, I was seeing the ‘Baker Hat’ in a few campaigns and instantly knew I needed one myself.

TURTLENECK JUMPER

This has been a favorite of mine for a while now, but I have been wearing turtleneck jumpers with pretty much everything. I just find that they are so sleek, classy and put together. I usually wear black or navy which is pretty much the color of everything I own anyway. I think that the fit makes it easy to wear any type of bottoms including flared trousers, wide leg trousers or even just jeans. It’s such a versatile piece.
WHERE TO FIND THEM:
1- ZARA
2- ZARA
3-FRENCH CONNECTION

BLACK BOOTS

If you follow me on Instagram or know me then you might have realized that I wear black heeled boots pretty much every day and I think my obsession is starting to get a bit excessive haha. However, they look so good with loads of outfits so you can’t go wrong really. There are a few different styles of black boots I’ve been loving such as lace-ups and black sock boots.
WHERE TO FIND THEM:

2- ZARA

COACH BAG

When I was in New York last year I invested in a bag from Coach House and it’s fair to say that I have got my money's worth. I honestly use this bag every day. It’s the perfect size for my phone, camera etc. easily fit inside which is great for a small crossbody bag. I love the color and it’s especially looked great over the A/W period because of the copper leather. Still so in love with it to this day!!

DEMIM HEELED BOOTS

It’s fair to say that these shoes are a bit out of my comfort zone because of the denim. As I said, my style aesthetic is neutral/ basic colors (black, white, grey and navy). However, I have loved adding these statement boots into some of my outfits over the last month. I LOVED wearing them with all black but with a blue turtleneck jumper( as shown in the image below since I am the worst at explaining) to create a really coordinated outfit. I picked these up for about £20-£30 in Tk Maxx which is a bargain if you ask me.

January Favourites 2018 | Erin

Hi Everyone!

I’m so happy to have finally gotten through January, longest month ever! I thought I’d start off with my first proper post being a favourites tag as I love reading these and seeing what everyone else is loving throughout the month. Most of the products that I’ve included are drugstore and so they are really affordable but nonetheless, are great.

Makeup Revolution Life On The Dancefloor Palette: Superdrug
Makeup Revolution palettes are one of my favourites mainly because of the value of them but the pigmentation in them is amazing. This particular palette is full of all the tones that I love and for just £10 in Superdrug it hasn’t let me down. Half of the shades are darker and the other half are light so it’s not one of those palettes that are subjected to seasons which makes it even better.
NYX Cream Suede Liquid Lipstick: Boots
I have an ever growing collection of liquid lipsticks but I feel like sometimes it’s hard to find those that don’t instantly dry out your lips. The name of this product perfectly describes its formula. It’s so soft and velvety on your lips. The cream works so well in the way that it still has the same effect as a liquid lipstick, it’s just not so drying. I got it in the shade ‘Soft Spoken’ which is such a lovely brown-nude. When it comes to lipstick shades, brown is too dark for me but pink can be too light and bright. This is the perfect combination of the two.
Soap and Glory Detox Facial Wash: Boots

- All Soap and Glory is on 2 for 1 at the minute at Boots!
I received this as part of a gift package at Christmas and after trying it out I found that not only does it cleanse your skin really well but also leaves it feeling so fresh. It’s not as strong smelling as the tea tree skin care products however, it gives the same fresh feeling that just makes your skin feel so much brighter. I would highly recommend this product as a daily wash and it definitely does its job of leaving your skin clean.

Garnier Natural Rose Water Toner: Superdrug
Before using this, I never used a toner on my skin and I’m so glad that I discovered this product. Not being a fan of floral scents like Rose or Lavender I wasn’t sure I would like it but once I’d started using it, I love it! This has made my skin feel so soft and for someone who gets such dry skin once the weather gets colder, its really helped to keep it well hydrated. I use this every night before I go to sleep and even the freshness of it on your face makes it feel so much better and almost calming.
Nivea Night Cream: Superdrug
This along with the other products have been amazing for my skin! As I mentioned before, I always get such dry skin as soon as it starts getting cold and always get red bits especially around my nose.Putting this on every night has made my skin so much more moisturised and I’ve hardly had any dry bits since using it. Even after using cleansers that make your skin go all tight when they dry, this soothes it in an instant.
Tresemme Keratin Smooth Shine Oil: Superdrug
I’ve always wondered, doesn’t putting oil in your hair not just make it greasy? But this stuff is so good for your hair. I feel like the ends of my hair dry up in an instant after just being cut and not only does it just feel awful but it looks awful too. This oil has been a bit of a miracle worker and has made the ends of my hair so shiny but so soft as well. As long as I distribute it well enough, it doesn’t make my hair look greasy at all and I love how nice it keeps it feeling.
Ikea Nutmeg and Vanilla Candle: Ikea
Most people I know will agree that Ikea is amazing as it is but their candles just couldn’t smell any better. I was instantly drawn to this one from its sweet but spicy smell, just so good. It’s lasted me ages for a 40 hour burner and was £1.75 which is almost too cheap for a candle that smells so nice! Literally could not recommend this more if I tried.
Converse x Comme Des Garçon Play: Dover Street Market
I received these from my boyfriend as a Christmas present because after seeing his pair, I just loved them and put them straight onto my wishlist! I tend not to gravitate towards many designer products and brands purely because of the price but when it comes to shoes, I feel like these are such good value. I also usually stick to the low top Converse if I buy any so having the high tops was also something new for me. They go with so many different outfits and they’re just so comfy! The sizing on them is great and I love the casual-designer vibe, the perfect combination between style and comfort.

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing what I’ve loved over the last month! Leave a comment letting us know some of your favourites from January or if you’ve been loving any of the same products as I have! We would love to hear your thoughts. Don’t forget that me and Georgie will be posting every week so make sure you come back to see what’s to come and also all of our social media links are on the page so feel free to follow us.
